Photography is not simply about the outcome but also every step in between. The Nikon FM2, one of Nikon’s many iconic cameras, has brought that true joy of photography and was widely cherished by its numerous users. Wishing to follow in those footsteps, the Z fc employs an exterior design with details carefully crafted to evoke that iconic camera. The body size resembles the FM2 and so does the balance between the pentaprism and body, as well as between the black and silver elements. Leather-like grain is adopted even on the back of the monitor, resembling a film camera. Each dial is of carefully carved aluminum with all of its top display engraved. The inscribed Nikon logo that was formerly used on cameras released from the 1970s to 1980s and a circular eyepiece add the finishing touches — all of which can only be achieved through the craftsmanship inherited by Nikon.
THE STORY BEHIND THE Z FC NAMING
The name Nikon Z fc represents one of the roles of this camera, which is to communicate and connect the history of the brand with its more than 70 years of dedicated camera manufacturing, from the past, to the present, to the future. The letter “f” indicates a fusion between tactile precision mechanics and high image quality, both thoroughly developed through decades of designing and manufacturing image-making tools. The “f” also signifies models with symbolic importance in Nikon’s history. The letter “c”, meanwhile, conveys Nikon’s wish for this camera, inheriting tradition, to be used by anyone, anywhere, more “casually”.

ACCESSIBLE I MENU FOR SMOOTHER OPERATION
New inspiration often strikes when you’re in the middle of shooting. By pressing the Z fc’s convenient i button, it displays 12 settings, letting you change them quickly without needing to go into the menu. The i menu lets you choose your 12 most frequently used settings and arrange them in the order of convenience. You can view the same i menu items on the camera monitor or the electronic viewfinder (EVF), enabling you to change settings and preview each adjustment in real time without taking your eye away.
